Hot Girl Summer aka Body Chain Season ☀️
dolorous_x_dawnngo_by_toronto_photographer_bettinabogar038.JPG

There's been a lot of chatter about 'Hot Girl Summer' and all the early 00s trends coming along with it and I, for one, am here for it! Among these many trends (including the long dreaded return of low rise pants) is one that I'm particularly excited about, the rise of the body chain! Long favoured by celebs and runway shows, this sultry trend is hitting the mainstream hard this season. According to WhoWhatWear 'summer 2021 is all about body jewelry' and 'this season, your skin should be coated in shimmering body jewelry of all kinds.' ~ sounds good to me!

Subtle or statement making, belly chains or full torso accessorizing, there are tons of ways to make this trend your own

Belly Chains anyone?

If you're the type who likes to wade into the water slowly, why not try a Belly Chain or Chain Belt, perfect for pairing with some low slung jeans, or glamming up your poolside look! They can also be worn as Lariat style necklace so you're really getting 3 accessories in 1!

Chunky Chains are taking over the most fashionable necks, wrists, and earlobes this season!

You’ve probably noticed that some of your favourite fashion lovers have traded in their dainty gold layers and opted for a single chunky chain instead, well, get ready to see it everywhere because bold necklines and chunky chains are about to the be the next accessory tidal wave!

The style was impossible to miss during New York Fashion Week with Chunky Chains popping up on runways like Gucci, and Chanel, not to mention on many of the stylish attendees of NYFW. Even the fashion overlords of Vogue have deemed Chunky Chains “of the moment” and that “bigger is better in terms of links”. Similarly, Who What Wear touted the "return of statement jewelry", adding that "this season, if your accessories have a chain on them, you're doing something right". I couldn't agree more.

Gone are the days of diminutive necklaces in a tangle of charms and chains, now is the time for striking chains, one big enough to balance out our bulky knitwear and the turtlenecks that seem to be a new fashion mainstay. I for one couldn’t be happier. After so many seasons of the same barely-there necklaces, Chunky Chains feel like a breath of fresh air and the perfect way to look stylish and of-the-moment with very minimal effort.
It's also a great way to look luxe for less!

Choose your flavour!

This new larger link movement isn't exclusive to necklaces, one of the hottest new trends being championed by editors and influencers is wearing a chunky chain bracelet layered over top of shirts and sweaters, creating a dynamic blend between outfit and accessory. Chunky chains have also shown up dangling from earlobes, in both short and bold, and long shoulder-grazing styles.

Whether you tend towards silver or gold tones, prefer to adorn your ears, neck, or wrists, I’ve got you covered with loads of options in the shop!

Two trends are better than one, and I can't think of anything better than a big beautiful pearl combined with a bold, large link chain.

5 Best Jewelry Styles for Fall

Fall weather brings in bulky sweaters, scarves, turtlenecks, and generally just a lot more layers. While it's probably my favourite season outfit-wise, it always comes with a certain set of challenges when it comes to accessorizing. Here are a few quick tips to help your accessory game stay strong through the colder seasons.

This season, the statement earring still reigns supreme, but the well loved style has taken on a new shape! While hoops were all the rage for spring and summer, geometric shapes and long drops are what's hot now that the temperatures are cooling. Shoulder grazing styles are an excellent way to add elegance to any look but they make a particularly bold statement when paired with a structure blazer. They’ll also take your holiday party looks to a whole new level.

Turtlenecks are still a strong trend this season. They’re such a flattering item but as such a large blank canvas they can sometimes seem intimidating to accessorize, short necklaces and fine chains are out of the running, but a great pair of statement making earrings can keep the focus up around your face and make sure you don’t look buried under all that fabric!

Pairing necklaces with knits tends to be a tricky affair, but long necklaces with heavier chains or more statement-making pendants are the perfect match for even the puffiest of sweaters. A long fine chain can also help to add a bit of delicacy to balance out your bulky knitwear and give your outfit a bit more complexity. This pairing also helps by creating an elongated line to balance out the inevitable width that sweaters can add.

Or, try something new and instead of wearing chains around your neck, drop them down around your waist and hop onto the newest trend, chain belts! This trend is sure to make an appearance at your upcoming holiday parties, its a great way to accent your waist without the hard cutting line of a belt. Not to mention, a fantastic way to dip a toe into the 70s boho trends that have been overtaking the runways.

When in doubt, the easiest winter friendly accessory is the bracelet. You never have to worry about it getting tangled up with you scarves or getting lost under all your layers but its still there to help you look polished and pulled together (even when you feel like a giant ball of yarn). Opt for heavier chains or chunky bangles so that they can still stand out and when paired with bulkier sweaters, a gemstone or large charm can go a long way.

NYFW Trend Report

The 3 top styles to invest in according to NYFW

For the past few days all eyes have been on the streets of New York to see what new styles are emerging on the Runways of New York Fashion Week, and on the streets as it-girls, influencers and celebs flood the streets while running from show to show. Here's a roundup of the top three trends to watch...

Bright and Bold

Color me happy! Bright jewel tones and bold color pairings have been on nearly every runway so far! Bold patterns and bright hues are about to be everywhere so channel your inner Romy and Michelle and put the fun back into your fashion sense.

All about Earrings

Statement Earrings still have a huge presence (pun intended) in all the trend forecasts. While hoops are still a go-to fav, a new staple style is emerging in the form of shoulder dusters! These long earrings are both youthful and elegant and breathe a fresh breath into any look from formal wear to your favourite jeans. For those afraid to take the plunge aim for a pair that hit around the bottom of your jawline but, if you're brave enough, go for something that hangs right down to your shoulder! It may seem intimidating but this new style is fun and flattering and definitely has some staying power. Check out my take on this new trend HERE

The Chain Gang

Chain Belts are back in a big way! I may be biased (I LOVE chain belts!) but this trend has been a long time coming. From Western style to 80s Lux, this look is versatile and fresh, and suitable for all body types! Wear them tight to cinch your waist a lá Escada or, as shown on the Carolina Herrera runway, wear it slung low and loose around your hips for a more laid back 70's boho look. Chain Belts are a style I've been exploring for a while now but my newest style is quickly heading to the top of my best-sellers list, check out the new Ryder Belt HERE
